Quilts & Art is an initiative to assist disabled people to earn an income. Ms Gerda Dekker who has lived in Vietnam since 1994, began Q&A in 2003 to help physically disabled who wanted to learn a skill. Currently, where are inadequate services in Vietnam to meet the needs of those who are disabled. Consequantly, disabled young people in Vietnam tend to be poorly educated and withou a work skill. A belief system that views disablility as bad luck or a curse for past wrong doings contributes to low self esteem, and leaves the young people very dependent on their family for support.
